Hello cycopaths. Welcome to the third installment of the Weekly Cyco Gallery.
I hope you are enjoying these. I am.
Last week, the bike that stole your hearts was a Specialized Diverge. Fellow cycopath Patrick Noser snapped the pic during a ride along Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. Here’s what he had to say about the ride:
“I met my college buddies at Big Meadows campground in Shenandoah National Park in early June of 2021. We had an AirBnb in the valley on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River for the rest of the week but we wanted to hike to Mary's Rock before leaving the park, which entailed a nice and ‘easy’ section of the Appalachian Trail up to a great scenic overlook. None of my college friends bike anymore. The last holdout broke his collarbone mountain biking on a similar trip the year before to Lake Hope State Park in Ohio. So I rode the 28 miles up and down Skyway Drive solo from Big Meadows to the trailhead where my friends met me via cars (the hike eventually killed me; ‘easy’ in the mountains does not equal ‘easy’ in Ohio). It was undoubtedly the best 28 road miles I've ever enjoyed, and I hope to go back and ride the entire road through the park someday. I found the statue and memorial to the Civilian Conservation Corp at one of the overlooks along the road. I grew up enjoying the CCC's magnificent work at Mohican State Park and figured the statue was perfect for a photo with my bike. It is great to have a reminder of the CCC's impact on all these parks and outdoor playgrounds that I love to visit.”
Thanks for sharing, Patrick! And thanks to everyone for sharing your photos. Keep ‘em coming.
That’s it for today, riders! I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Get out there and ride your bikes, you cycopaths. But before you do, vote!
And take some photos while you’re out there. Send them to brazdill.25@gmail.com. Include the location, the date of the photo and the year, make and model of the bike.
Look for installments of the Weekly Cyco Gallery to drop every Friday afternoon, around lunch time.
Dave Palmer! Just realized I spelled your name "Dame." My bad.
