Winter is here. For some of us, this means we don’t get out as much as we did in the warmer months. This might also mean we’re down a bit. The winter doldrums. The blues.
There’s indoor cycling, of course. It’s just not the same. We spin and spin and spin and spin and stare at something on the wall or the carpet and somehow get hypnotized into the same crestfallen mood we started with. And then it gets dark outside all too soon so we take our vitamin D supplements and it’s … just not the same.
There are days when the sun is shining, of course. And the cold invigorates our bodies, reminds us of being alive and we feel free again. It’s good and our winter legs long for our summer legs.
Hang in there, cycopaths.
Here are some quotes I’ve come across that have made me smile and that have reminded me of summer legs.
“Get a bicycle. You will not regret it. If you live.” Mark Twain.
“It is sobering to think that, as a cyclist, all that’s between you and being run over by a Ford Explorer is the driver bending down for half a second to retrieve a dropped McNugget.” Eben Weiss.
"Ride as much or as little, or as long or as short as you feel. But ride." Eddy Merckx.
"Riding a bike is like an art, something you do because you feel something inside." Marco Pantani.
"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving." Albert Einstein.
Love the quotes! The first one applies to you, thankfully!
